William Michael Koons, Sr.

William Michael Koons, Sr., 88, of Bethlehem, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at St. Luke’s Ft. Hill.

Born on April 19, 1935, in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Fred A. and Loretta (Mulhern) Koons.

Bill graduated from Liberty High School. Following high school, he joined the military and served our country in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, Bill worked at the Bethlehem Steel where he eventually retired from. He was a faithful member of St. Anne’s Church, Bethlehem. Bill was a huge Notre Dame fan and took pride in his Irish heritage. He had an extreme appreciation for wildlife and an immense love for his children and grandchildren. Above all, Bill will be remembered for his generosity towards others, his kind heart, and his great sense of humor.

Bill will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Mary Louise (Repsher) Koons; son, William Michael Koons, Jr.; three daughters, Kathleen Dugan, Karyn Koons (Karen Mccarthy), and Mary Koons (Mary Ann Olsen); brother, Fred (Ann) Koons, four grandchildren, Robert, Victoria, Siobhan, and Kyle; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his two sisters, Shirley Borghi and Patricia Talijan; brother, Walter “Murph” Koons; son-in-law, Peter Dugan and daughter-in-law, Danette Koons.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017. Interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
