William W. Pcihoda, 88, of Bethlehem, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Ryan) Pcihoda. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in September. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late William S. and Rose (Szarka) Pcihoda. He was a graduate of Lehigh University where he received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering.
He was employed by Western Electric, AT&T. and retired from Lucent Technologies after 35 years of service. While employed there he held various positions in engineering and management, retiring as Manager of the Photomask Shop and Engineering. He was awarded for patents related to electronic manufacturing processes. He was active in the Lehigh Valley Branch of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Allentown-Reading Branch of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society. He served as chairman for both groups.
He chaired numerous meetings and symposia for the AESF and authored and published several papers on electroplating in the electronics industry as well as gold recovery and reclamation in the industry. He was a contributor to the book "Environmental Control in Electronic Manufacturing" by Morrison. In the past, he was a reader for Radprin, the radio station that provided the daily news for Community College who were working on their GED.
Bill was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church and Silver Creek Country Club. An avid golfer, he recorded three holes in one. In addition to golf, he enjoyed all sports, the theater and traveling. The highlight of his travels with his wife was a trip to Italy to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Survivors: Wife, Patricia Pcihoda; daughter, Deborah Achey, of Bethlehem, son, Richard, of Newtown Square; and one grandson, Derrick Achey.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
