Winifred Dileo Melinsky

March 24, 1955 — July 29, 2022

Winifred "Winnie" DiLeo Melinsky, 67, of Center Valley, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on March 24, 1955, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Nicholason) and Dr. Luscian DiLeo. She was the devoted wife for 30 years of the late Louis C. Melinsky.

Winnie was a cheerful, loving, hard-working woman who will be remembered for her bright smile, her welcoming personality, and her selfless nature. She loved entertaining family and friends, vacations in Cape May, cooking and baking, and planning events both personally and professionally. Winnie loved spending time with her family, especially being Nana to Charlie and MaryAnn, who brightened her life every day.

She devoted countless hours to support Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation, Women for DeSales, Good Shepherd, Phoebe Home, PSU Lehigh Valley, Go Red for Women, Boys Scouts, the Symphony Ball in Allentown, and many other non-profit organizations. She and Lou were often seen gracing the dance floor of charitable events and she always greeted both strangers and friends with a huge hug.

Winnie was the Director of Client Management for the Eastern Region of Highmark Blue Shield for more than 18 years and a Senior Vice President of Business Development for Caruso Benefits Group until her retirement.

Growing up in Allentown, Winnie attended Allentown Central Catholic High School and was a lifelong parishioner of Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Morgan Burkhardt and his wife, Katie; grandchildren, Charlie and MaryAnn; sister, Mary Lou Welsh and her husband, Rodney, and brother-in-law, Tom Kwiatek and his wife Louise; beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends. Winnie was preceded in death by her brother, James F. DiLeo, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Ann and Stephen Geitz.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A viewing will also be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. at The Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, 1825 W. Turner St. Allentown, PA 18104. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation 850 S. 5th St. Allentown, PA 18103 or to the Women for DeSales 2755 Station Ave. Center Valley, PA 18034.
